About Paper Positions Berlin

Featured Artists

At this edition of Paper Positions Berlin, Nadia Arnold Gallery proudly presents works by:

Alphée Ballester (France) – Working between Paris and Cher, Ballester’s mixed-media compositions explore human vulnerability and nature’s fragility, blending delicate handmade paper with expressive textures to create poetic, emotionally charged landscapes.

Schalk van der Merwe (South Africa) – Based in Hout Bay, van der Merwe creates raw, emotive portraits using layers of paint, charcoal, and turpentine. His haunting figures oscillate between beauty and despair, capturing the fragility of human emotion in a world of chaos.

Felix Dolah (Germany) – Based in Mainz, Dolah creates haunting monochrome portraits in charcoal and water, depicting ambiguous, elongated figures in a world of fragility and disintegration. His work explores identity, isolation, and the struggle for human connection.
